As the Baby Boomer generation begins to retire and leave the workforce we are faced with a new generation leading the way and leading our companies. What does that mean? We want to believe they can do it, but is their focus and mark of achievement significantly different? I read two articles recently that did a great job of describing the changes that we are quickly facing here in the states and abroad.
The first article, by Dylan Taylor, President and COO of Colliers International had a lot of insight about focus, values and transparency into the mindset that the Milliennial Generation is carrying into their leadership roles. You can read it here.
“Millennials beliefs about leadership reflect long-term changes in organizational culture that aren’t unique to just their age group.
Sharon Florentine, of CIO offered another article on this topic where she discusses the leadership gap that currently exists between the Baby Boomers and the Millienial Generation.
“While Boomers and even Generation Xers tend to associate leadership with management roles and C-suite titles, for millennials, leadership is less title-driven and more situational.”
My hope is that you found these articles as intriguing as I did. As our companies grow and develop, these are all things not only to consider within our own four walls but also how we reach out as a B2B technology provider and offer solutions to the current business market.
